75th Anniversary of the
End of World War II
12 September 2020 - 75 years ago, on 12 September 1945, the Second World War came to an end in Singapore. The last major surrender ceremony of Japanese forces ending the war was signed at Singapore's City Hall.
A ceremony at Kranji War Memorial was planned to commemorate this significant event in history, however, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Commemoration Ceremony could not take place.
Instead, representatives of seven nations individually laid wreaths at varying times at the Cenotaph, observing Covid-19 regulations, to recognise the significance of the day and the millions, both military and civilians, who suffered and made sacrifices in the war.
Lest We Forget.
