Seeking Justice: Singapore War Crimes Trials 1946


The first-ever war crimes trials were held in Nuremberg from 1945 -1946, against senior Nazis for atrocities committed during World War II. Subsequently in Asia, war crimes trials were also held in Tokyo and Singapore.

In commemoration of the 83rd Anniversary of the Fall of Singapore and in conjunction with the Battle for Singapore 2025, Haw Par Villa is pleased to present a talk on the Singapore War Crimes Trials.

Join Gautam Hazarika as he delves into an exploration of the Singapore War Crimes trials through official transcripts and photographs.

About the Author

Mr Gautam Hazarika grew up in India and moved to Singapore over 20 years ago. A former banker, he now focusses on his passion for the history of Singapore & India. Gautam’s articles have been published in Singapore, Hong Kong and London. His private collection includes first editions, maps, prints, paintings and travel guides of Singaporean and Indian history.

Gautam has presented at the Researching FEPOW Conference at Liverpool on Changi newspapers published by civilian internees,and his book “The Forgotten Indian Prisoners of World War II” is being published by Penguin India Pen & Sword Books UK in 2025.
